Altercare Newark South Earns 2025 AHCA/NCAL Bronze National Quality Award

Newark, Ohio – Altercare Newark South has been recognized as a 2025 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), honoring the center’s dedication to improving the lives of those it serves through quality care. This distinction is the first of three progressive award levels in the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes long term and post-acute care providers across the nation that are committed to enhancing care for older adults and individuals with disabilities.

“We are incredibly proud of our team at Altercare Newark South for this achievement,” said Doug Mock, President of Altercare Integrated Health Services. “This recognition reflects our staff’s dedication to delivering compassionate, high-quality care every day and demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement.”

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is a rigorous three-level process evaluated by trained examiners using the Baldrige Performance Excellence criteria. This framework is nationally recognized for helping organizations achieve and sustain performance excellence while improving quality of care and quality of life for long-term care residents.

At the Bronze level, providers develop an organizational profile that includes their vision, mission, key customers, and core strengths. Applicants must demonstrate the use of a performance improvement system, and applications are reviewed to determine if the facility meets the program’s criteria. With this award, Altercare Newark South now has the opportunity to advance to the Silver – Achievement in Quality level.

“Receiving this award marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards excellence,” said Cathy Bergland, AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board Chair. “Congratulations to Altercare Newark South for this significant achievement. I encourage you to take some time to celebrate and continue striving for higher levels of quality and performance.”

The 2025 National Quality Awards will be formally presented during Delivering Solutions 25, the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo, held October 19–22, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 2025 National Quality Award Program is sponsored by AHCA/NCAL Associate Business Members: HealthCap, McKesson, Rosie, Incite Workforce Solutions Powered by SnapCare, and Prevail by First Quality.
